Neeraj Chopra, who won India a prestigious gold medal in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics in javelin throw, takes to the field today to defend his medal. The athlete from Haryana has been inspiring sportsmen and others alike through his dedication and diet regime. In various interviews, Neeraj has opened up about how he maintains a body fat percentage below 10% and ensures he consumes enough macronutrients and protein. And interestingly, his diet also has a cute Kerala connection. The Olympian apparently starts his day with tender coconut water, Kerala's official drink! One might wonder why he would go for the humble fruit water instead of high-end pre-workout supplements or energy boosters, but here's why coconut water can be an excellent, hydrating beverage you can start the day with;

Low in carbs and more
A lightly sweet and refreshing drink with a nutty, earthy tone, coconut water can give you a fresh feel as soon as you wake up. Replenishing the fluid loss at night and providing vitamins and minerals for overall health, it can also support your immunity. For those trying to manage their weight, there is no better drink than this natural, flavourful beverage. The water can also prevent constipation, aid in digestion and detoxify your body. Moreover, the water is rich in electrolytes like magnesium, potassium and sodium, natural sugars that give a quick energy boost and support recovery. However, those with gastric issues, kidney problems, diabetes, allergies and more should drink it on an empty stomach only after checking with their doctors.
