Wayanad landslide: Details on health facilities, medical teams, control rooms

Following the landslide at Meppadi, Chooral Mala and Mundakkai in Wayanad on Tuesday early morning, which took the lives of more than 60 people, the Kerala government has opened various medical facilities and kick-started relief operations in the district. Medical teams from various hospitals in Kerala and volunteers have already departed for Wayanad to provide emergency services. A team led by Jeevan Babu, the State Mission Director of the National Health Mission, will be coordinating the activities here. Here are the details on health facilities, control rooms and more:

1) Temporary hospitals to be set up, wherever required.
2) Kanivu 108 ambulances and their rapid-action medical units are being sent
3) Post-mortem procedures have begun
4) Rescue experts, doctors and other health workers to come from Tamil Nadu, led by Malayali IAS officers
5) Additional stocks of drugs, and equipment to be sent.
6) Medical teams from Kozhikode and Kannur sent
7) Doctors and nurses from the surgery and orthopaedics departments of Thrissur Medical College Hospital sent
