Old people often struggle with oral health and hesitate to visit the dentist due to stress or fear of dental procedures. However, many modern techniques and equipment have made dentistry simple and comfortable too. These are some of the recent changes that make oral medicine fuss-free.
- The substance that is used to take the clinical measurement of tooth wear could make some people nauseous. However, now, measurements can be easily taken using digital impressions with the help of a computer. These are then sent to the laboratory, saving time and effort.
- Full dental implants could be easily done using corticobasal implantation within 48 – 72 hours. These implants are usually used for bone replacement. There is no age restriction for undergoing this procedure.
- Mouth ulcers, gum problems and severe pain in the chin could be easily treated using a modern treatment method called photo bio modulation or low-level laser therapy.
- Conscious sedation using nitric oxide is a safe method to prepare the patient for dental surgeries and other complex procedures without any stress or complications.
- In old people, bones may be softened or cut before installing dentures. This was a complex procedure which was painful and time-consuming. However, now, it could be easily done with piezo surgery, which is a rapidly evolving technique of bone surgery that allows precise cuts.
