Suave and stylish, this single-storey Malappuram house is a dream

Salim had to demolish his thirty-year-old house at Malappuram as the authorities took over some part of the plot for highway development. The family then decided to build a brand-new house in the same plot by leaving quite a lot of space in the front.
They decided to have a single-storey house as it would ensure amazing communication and a hearty relationship between the family members. The slop roof elevation perfectly suits the tropical climate of Kerala. Interestingly, GI truss roof has been installed on top of a flat roof. This is then paved with roofing tiles that add a traditional charm to the elevation. The space between the flat roof and the truss roof can now be used as a spacious multi-utility area.
The interiors are designed in a semi-open style. The spaces are connected yet have enough privacy. Designed in 2500 sqft, this splendid abode has a sit-out, formal and family living areas, dining area, kitchen with a work area, four bedrooms, two courtyards and upper utility space.
The living area has been designed in the ‘compact cute’ theme. The wall in louver finish is an attractive feature here. The minimal false ceiling doesn’t have open cutting edges in order to avoid lizards and other insects getting trapped. The furniture pieces are done in exquisite teak wood with a fabric finish. White vitrified tiles have been paved on the floor to add classy elegance to the areas. Meanwhile, wooden finished tiles have been used in the living area.
The spacious green courtyard is the highlight of the interiors. This open space inside the house has been secured using wire mesh. The artificial grass lawn and the water body grant a serene ambience to this area. The family’s pet birds fly around this area, enjoying their freedom. Moreover, this is the family’s favourite hang-out spot too. The bedrooms are arranged on both sides of this area. The family says that it indeed is an incredible experience waking up listening to the sweet songs of their darling birds.
Besides this, there is a central courtyard too. Lots of natural sunshine enter the house through the pergola skylight here. Sitting spaces in teak wood finish have been arranged around this area. One side of the courtyard faces the open patio. These enchanting areas are the souls of the house that fill the interiors with positive vibes.
The simple dining table has nano white paved on GI frame. Meanwhile, the flooring done using white vitrified tiles perfectly complements the dining table.
The bedrooms are uniquely designed to receive natural sunshine and cool breeze. All the bedrooms in this house are bath attached.
The kitchen cupboards are done in plywood with laminate finish. Meanwhile, the countertop has been paved with nano white. An adjacent work area completes the spacious kitchen area.
The construction of this beautiful abode, including the structure and furnishing, was completed on a budget of Rs 60 lakh.
The family says that their friends and relatives are impressed by their brand new house where comfort meet chic style.
