The magnificent house at Kadathi, Ernakulam is synonymous with luxury and breathes in a royal air. The 16121 sq ft structure built in classic colonial style stands majestically in a 2.95 acres plot. The sloped roof clad with clay tiles add to the traditional charm.
The house is built in three floors to suit the unique feature of the plot, although, it looks like a two storied structure from outside. At the basement, there is a gym, a bar and a bedroom.
There are three bedrooms, formal living space, family living, dining area and a kitchen on the main floor. On the topmost floor, there are two bedrooms and an upper living space.
The ceiling in the main hall has an extra elevation and ensures good ventilation. There are small bridges to connect the various spaces. The beautifully carved wooden works is another highlight of this house. The ceiling, partitions, stair case, flooring and furniture are exquisitely done in teak wood. The stately designed portico at once invites guests to the interiors. The entire house is cooled by a centralized air conditioning system.
The custom-made furniture in white theme adds to the elegance of this luxury house. Glass windows and the jali partition secure the privacy of the tastefully done family living space. The courtyard at the center of the house is another eye catching feature of the edifice.
There is a wooden deck here to enjoy the beautiful expanse of nature outside. There is a small garden too in here. A beautiful swinging cot is hung on one side of the courtyard. The pergola on the ceiling lets in ample natural light into the house.
The stairway, including the railings, separating either side at the first landing is crafted in teak wood. The wall here is highlighted by giving it a red hue. The railings are extended to the entire upper storey. The gypsum false ceiling and warm color tones enhance the pleasant nature of the interiors.
The 12-seater glass topped dining table and the nearby crockery unit make up the dining area. Korean stones are used in the modular kitchen which has all the modern facilities. There is a working kitchen and a work area adjacent to the main kitchenette.
All the six bedrooms are spacious and let in enough air and natural light. The bedrooms are bath attached and have built-in wardrobes, dressing space, as well as study tables.
