Nestled in the verdant coffee plantations in the breezy countryside of Kalpetta in Wayanad, Kerala, is this serene abode that boasts unique designer patterns and amazing facilities. The owner Manikandan, who is a scientist in ISRO, sees the beautiful house as a perfect weekend getaway to relax and enjoy some family time. The family waits eagerly for the weekends, to travel to their cosy home in Kalpetta.

Three sloped roofs, with toughened glass panelling, are the highlight of the elevation. The exterior walls don serene white hue that amazingly complements the surrounding greenery. Meanwhile, the grey-coloured natural stone cladding breaks the monotony of the single hue. The interiors are designed to make maintenance easier and hassle-free.

Even though it's a single-storey house, a mezzanine floor is built by taking advantage of the ceiling height. The family says that they often hang out on the mezzanine floor, making it their favourite spot. The house is surrounded by beautiful plantation that looks green and vibrant. Lots of windows are there in the house to enjoy the mesmerizing views of the plantation. The glass window on the mezzanine floor lets in a panoramic view of the scintillating coffee plantation that sprawls in acres.

Designed in 1740 sqft, this fabulous abode has a sit-out, living and dining areas, kitchen, two bedrooms, bathroom and a mezzanine floor.

The dining and kitchen areas are designed in an open theme. Meanwhile, the dining table in wood and glass combination is minimal yet classy. However, the family usually enjoys their meals on the quaint breakfast counter in the kitchen. Besides the main kitchen, a working kitchen and a work area too are arranged here. The bedrooms are simple and mostly dons a white colour palette. The bay windows that open to the coffee plantation are the highlights of the bedrooms.

Manikandan says that he could visit the site only once or twice, after the construction began. He relied mostly on WhatsApp and video calling apps to communicate with the design team. The owner believes that he is lucky to find a brilliant designer and a contractor who didn’t leave any stone unturned to make a perfect house for the family.
