Earlier, women with curly hair, which was considered unfashionable, used to straighten it to be in line with the vogue. But soon, love for curly hair, surged. Movies too played a part for it. Anupama in 'Premam', Parvathy in 'Charlie', and even actors like Rima Kallingal, who proudly flaunt their curly locks instilled confidence in many. They all started loving their naturally curly hair. But the biggest problem they face is how to manage it. Even if the hair is messy, by paying attention to a few things, you can have healthy curly hair.

Tie it up while sleeping
Curly hair is naturally very absorbent. This means that these hair strands capture more dust and moisture from the air and retain them disrupting the outer cuticle layer of the strands. The condition makes the strands more dry and frizzy. So, it is better to keep it tied up while sleeping, travelling or riding a bike.

Use of blow dryer
Curly hair takes so much time to dry after a shower. So people may have the habit of using blow dryers to dry their hair. Using a blow dryer for too long is not good for the hair. Allow the hair to dry naturally.

Use of the comb
Those with curly hair should not use comb with small teeth, which people generally use. It is best to use a comb with larger teeth. Avoid using a comb immediately after a shower. Instead of combing wet hair, use your fingers to detangle the knots.

Apply oil only on the scalp
Applying oil on the scalp is good, but applying too much oil on the scalp can dry out the hair. Try to apply the oil only on the scalp, if the hair ends up with too much oil, you will need to use more shampoo. It damages the hair follicles further.
