A popular American beauty blogger is breaking the Internet for her unique beauty experiment. Briana Christianson, a beauty blogger, recently posted a TikTok video of herself applying henna to her lips.

The video begins with a woman showing her henna supplies to the camera. “Henna lip stain,” reads the text on the screen. “Alright, you’ve seen henna freckles how about henna lips,” can be heard in the background. The woman then proceeds to put henna on her lips and then gives it one hour to set. After this, she wipes and peels the layer of henna away.

With wide sharings on the micro-blogging platform, this post has captured netizens’ attention. And she was slammed for cultural appropriation and some even called her experiment as ‘stupidity’.

Henna has been used to create freckles earlier by people in the west although in India, it is culturally significant. They are considered auspicious and apart from being used in festive occasions, brides also apply henna before getting married.

Well, days later, the blogger took to social media later to announce that her beauty experiment failed and the lip stain caused her allergies. In the second video, she explained how it took her almost two days for the allergy to completely fade away.
