Stills from the movieKottayam: The seven day long 21st International Film Festival of Kerala to begin on December 2nd will have 184 films from 62 countries to be screened at various theaters in Thiruvananthapuram.
Fourteen films will compete for various film awards in the competition section of this season’s IFFK. Out of the four Indian movies in the competition section, two films are in Malayalam. Manhole, directed by Vidhu Vincent and Kaadu Pookkunna Neram/ When the Woods Bloom directed by Dr. Biju are the two Malayalam movies that found a place in this season’s IFFK.
Other movies in the competition sections are Clair Obscur / Tereddüt, Clash / Eshtebak, Cold of Calandar / Kalandar Sogugu, Die Beautiful, Knife in the Clear Water / Qing shui li de daozi, Maj Rati Keteki, Soul on a String / Pi sheng shang de hun, The Cursed Ones, The Last Mural / Chitrokar, The Return, Warehoused / Almacenados, and Where are my Shoes? / Kafsh hayam koo.
Competition section of IFFK is restricted to films from Asia, Africa, and Latin America.
The film that bags the Golden Crow Pheasant award for the best feature film in the competition section of IFFK will receive a cash prize of Rs 15 lakh equally shared between the director and producer.
The opening film of this year’s IFFK is a Persian movie, Parting, directed by Navid Mahmoudi.
