Tasty chicken mappas

Chicken mappas is a delicious combination with appam, chapathi and rice. Here is the recipe.
Ingredients
For marination
300 gms chicken
¼ tsp turmeric powder
½ tsp pepper powder
Salt as required
For gravy
3 tbsp coconut oil
4 cloves
2 cardamom pods
10 peppercorns
1 small piece of cinnamon
½ inch piece of ginger (chopped)
5 garlic cloves (chopped)
2 big onions (chopped)
3-4 green chillies (chopped)
Curry leaves as required
Salt as required
¼ tsp turmeric powder
½ tsp chilli powder
2 tsp coriander powder
1 medium-sized tomato
½ tsp meat masala (optional)
¼ tsp garam masala
1 ¾ cups second extract of coconut milk
¾ cup first extract of coconut milk
For tempering
1 tbsp coconut oil
½ tsp mustard seeds
5 shallots (chopped)
1 dried chilli
Curry leaves as required
Preparation
Marinate the chicken with turmeric powder, pepper powder and salt
Heat coconut oil in a pan
Roast cloves, cardamom, peppercorns and cinnamon
Add ginger, garlic, onion, green chillies, curry leaves and salt as required
Sauté well
Into it add turmeric powder, chilli powder, coriander powder, meat masala and garam masala
Sauté for a minute
Add the tomatoes
Sauté until they are nice and mushy
Now add the marinated chicken
Mix for 2-3 minutes
Pour the second extract of coconut milk
Mix well and close the lid
Cook for 15-20 minutes on low flame
Now add the first extract of coconut milk
Give everything a good mix
Turn off the flame before the gravy boils
For the tempering, heat coconut oil in a pan
Splutter the mustard seeds
Sauté the shallots and the dried chilli
Roast some curry leaves too
Add this tempering into the chicken mappas
Mix well
Enjoy the tasty chicken mappas with roti, chapathi or rice.
