Roasted chilli chutney tastes amazing with piping hot rice or a bowl of refreshing kanji (rice gruel). Here is a recipe of roasted chilli chutney that is deliciously spicy and tangy.

Ingredients
1 cup shallots/onion
10 red chillies
1 sprig curry leaves
¼ tsp turmeric powder
Lemon sized ball of tamarind
½ tsp coconut oil
¼ cup grated coconut
Salt as required

Preparation
Heat coconut oil in a pan and fry the red chillies
Into it add the shallots/onions
Sauté until they are dark brown in colour
Now add the curry leaves and turmeric powder
Sauté well
Add the tamarind and roast well
After this mixture has cooled down, grind in it a mixer jar along with the grated coconut.
