Multigrain thattai

Multigrain thattai

Thattai is a popular fried snack that is made with urad dal and spices. However, in this recipe of thattai, multigrain is used which makes the snack extra delicious and nutritious as well.

Here is how you could make crispy and healthy thattai using multigrain.

Ingredients
2 tbsp yellow lentils
2 cups multigrain powder
2 cups rice flour
¼ cup urad dal (roasted and powdered)
¾ cup Bengal gram (roasted and powdered)
1-2 tbsp chilli powder
Salt as required
2 tbsp butter
2 pinches asafetida powder
Oil to fry

Preparation
Soak the yellow lentils for at least half an hour
Sift the multigrain powder, rice flour, urad dal powder and Bengal gram powder together through a sieve
Add the soaked yellow lentils, chilli powder and salt as required
Mix well
Now add water as required and make a soft batter
Make sure that the batter is not too thick or runny
Scoop a lemon-sized ball of batter and place it on a greased plastic sheet
Place another plastic sheet on top of this ball and press using a bowl
This is done to make same sized thattai. You could also spread the batter using your fingers
Heat oil in a pan on medium flame
Add the thattai and fry until both sides are nice and crispy
Place the fried thattai on tissue papers to remove the extra oil
Store in air tight containers.
