Spicy and aromatic chutney powder is a perfect side dish for dosa and idli. Made with lots of spices like pepper corns and dried chillies, the chutney powder can be stored for a while in air tight containers.

Preparation
200 gms white urad dal
1 bunch curry leaves
100 gms yellow lentils
2 tbsp black pepper corns
1 tbsp cumin
15-20 dried chillies
2 tsp salt
¼ tsp asafoetida

Ingredients
Roast urad dal and curry leaves together for about 5 min
Roast yellow lentils until it turns golden brown
Roast black pepper corns and cumin for 2 min
Roast dried chillies, salt and asafoetida until the colour of the dried chillies change
All the ingredients roasted separately can now be ground into a fine powder.
The chutney powder can be mixed with ghee or gingelly oil, and tastes good with idli, dosa, or uthappam
