In the breezy Goan times, the Beef Assado would make for a great dish to savour. On a vacation? All the more perfect!

Ingredients
1 kg beef
200 ml oil
100 gms onions, chopped 
Tomatoes, chopped
2 gms green chillies
2 gms dried red chillies dried, chopped

For the Marinade

Salt as required       
100 ml vinegar
50 gms ginger paste
50 gms garlic paste
2 gms clove
2 gms cinnamon
2 gms cumin seeds             
2 gms turmeric powder

Preparation
Take the uncut meat piece and make large slits or gashes on it with a sharp knife
Make a paste with salt, vinegar, ginger paste, garlic paste, cloves, cinnamon, cumin seeds and turmeric powder. Leave it to marinate overnight in the refrigerator
The following morning, heat oil in a large pan and saute the onions
To this, add the tomatoes, green chillies and dried red chillies and continue to sauté well
Add the marinated beef to the pan and fry till it turns golden brown on both sides
Keep closed and leave to cook on a slow fire till water seeps out of the beef
Next add 500 ml of hot water and allow it to cook till tender
Check for the seasoning and add more if required
When it cools, remove the beef from the masala and slice it into thin pieces
Pour the prepared masala over the beef slices and serve with Goan bread
