Red wine is the perfect beverage to say the toast with while ringing in Christmas and New Year. Here is how you could make delicious red wine in just 15 days.
Ingredients
2.5 kg black grapes
1 kg sugar
1 litre boiled and cooled water
2 cloves
1 cardamom pod
2 cinnamon sticks
100 gms wheat grains
1 tbsp yeast
Preparation
Wash the grapes and spread them on a clean cotton cloth (preferably white)
Wipe the grapes using the same piece of cloth
Into the ceramic or glass jar add the grapes and sugar in alternate layers
Add the cloves, cardamom, cinnamon, yeast and wheat grains
Pour in the boiled and cooled water
Stir and mash the grapes a bit
Close the lid and secure it by tightly tying a cloth
Place the jar in a darker place
Open the jar on alternate days and stir the contents in it
Repeat this for ten days
On the fifteenth day, pass the wine through a clean piece of muslin
You can serve the wine from then on
You can also keep it aside for 21 days for the wine to develop more flavours
