This special chicken soup is a traditional preparation that is mostly cooked in the rural households of Kerala

There is a good hit of pepper in this soup which is often taken as a home remedy for cold and fever. Check out the fairly simple recipe of nadan chicken soup with pepper.

Ingredients
200 gm chicken
2 tbsp coconut oil
3 cloves garlic
2 green chilies
5-6 shallots
1 bunch curry leaves
Salt as required
1 tsp crushed black pepper corns
¼ tsp black pepper powder
¼ tsp cumin
¼ tsp turmeric powder
A pinch of asafetida
Coriander leaves as required
1 ½ tbsp coconut milk

Preparation
Heat coconut oil in an earthen vessel
Sauté garlic, ginger, shallots and green chilies
Now add the crushed pepper corns and turmeric powder
Into it add the chicken pieces
Cook the chicken by adding water and salt as required
Add asafetida and coriander leaves 
Boil until the broth begins to thicken up
Now add cumin and pepper powder
Mix well
Turn off the flame
Add 1 ½ tbsp coconut milk before serving this soup into a bowl
Tastes best when consumed hot.
