Think Ramadan and the first thing that come8s to a Malayali's mind is the yummy treats that you get just in Malabar. Just as Malabar is not confined to Kozhikode and Thalassery, the Malabar snacks are more than Unnakkaya or Kalathappam. Have you heard of pallu pathiri? Or kai pathiri?

Neypathiri aka Ney pathal
Neypathiri, ney pathal as it is known locally, is a simple, fried rice roti commonly made in the muslim households across Malabar. Over the years, the dish has found fans across the state and has secured a seat in the snack shelves of tea shops in Muslim-majority towns in other parts of the state. It can be served with a spicy varutharacha chicken curry or as a tea time snack with a saucy dip.
