In the face of overwhelming loss, it's difficult to find the right way to offer comfort. Kerala, especially Wayanad, is enveloped in a heartbreak. But the scene at the disaster site now is overwhelming, with countless individuals pouring in to offer essential items and support. Amidst this sea of compassion, Chef Pillai stands out, extending a lifeline by providing food to those in desperate need.

From the moment he heard about the devastating landslide, Chef Pillai has dedicated himself to preparing and serving food day and night. His tireless efforts are beyond the statistics of profit and loss, as he provides nourishment to those who have lost their loved ones and their homes. At Sanchari restaurant in Batheri, Chef Pillai and his team have been working around the clock, driven by nothing but a deep desire to help.

From the previous evening till August 1 morning, they served biryani to nearly 2,000 people in Wayanad. To date, they have delivered food for 6,000 people here.

Given the current situation, Pillai has decided to continue distributing food throughout the weekend. Speaking to Manorama Online, Chef Pillai mentioned that arrangements are in place and essentials have been stocked at the restaurant to serve up to 20,000 people.

The food distribution is coordinated with the District Collector of Wayanad and it is given to anyone in need, including the rescue team, those in relief camps, police, firefighters, and other officials on duty. While vegetarian meals and non-vegetarian biryani are served at noon, chapati and curry are served for dinner.

Aneesh Narayanan, his partner in running the restaurant, is on the ground, ensuring that the food reaches those in need. Chef Pillai also receives wholehearted support from Nobi and Chef Srikanth in this endeavour.
