Who doesn’t love sipping hot black tea on a cold, rainy day? A crunchy parippuvada (dal fritter) would be perfect to go with the tea. Even Dulquer Salman couldn’t resist this fabulous combo in one of his movies. In case you crave hot black tea or many other varieties of teas, then head straight to the Tea Cafe on the side of the Seaport-Airport Road in Kalamassery, Ernakulam. This spot is already becoming a favourite among youngsters, families and tea lovers. Their amazing menu that offers a huge variety of tea is the highlight here. Moreover, you could also enjoy delicious Malabar snacks and rich avil milk.

For the love of tea!
Muhammad Rashid, who hails from Kochi, is a self-confessed tea lover. His quest for tasty and refreshing tea inspired him to start a cafe at the heart of Kochi. Now, Rashid, who serves tasty tea and snacks to tea lovers like him, has become their hero.

Even though it is a cafe, different kinds of avil milk, shakes, and snacks too are sold here. The latest addition to the menu is the iconic ice ‘churandi’ or flavoured, shaved ice. Rashid managed to introduce flavoured ice (also known as ice orathi), which is a trademark of the Kozhikode beach, in Kochi, earning the admiration of many. He says that families love visiting the cafe as it is a cosy spot to enjoy some valuable time in each other’s company. Tea Cafe begins to get busy by four in the evening and people often queue up in front of the cafe even late into the night.

A cozy spot away from the buzz
Lots of people reach the Tea Cafe as the construction of the four-lane highway has been paused temporarily. Even though the cafe is in the city, it is at a spot which is calm without the buzz of speeding vehicles. So, families and groups of friends frequent Tea Cafe not just to enjoy tea and snacks but to enjoy hearty conversations too. In the evenings, you could taste a variety of tea and snacks while listening to soulful music.

Masala soda and moru soda
Another popular drink here is the moru soda. Lots of people come to Tea Cafe just to have this drink. Besides, uppumanga soda, masala soda, munthiri soda, and kudam kidu soda are some of the amazing varieties of drinks served at Tea Cafe.
