Sweet and juicy pineapples are the favourite fruit of many. However, the spikes on its flesh could cause an unpleasant sensation or itchiness on the throat. It is quite an effort cutting pineapple by removing the thorny part of the flesh. The first step is to cut the outer skin using a sharp knife. The area on both sides of the thorn should be scored before scooping them out slowly. This method ensures that there isn’t too much wastage. Pineapples can be enjoyed as freshly cut pieces or refreshing juice.

Pineapples are sweet and delicious and are loaded with nutrients. It could be preserved in many forms. Pineapples that aren’t too ripe could be used to make jams, halwa, cake, fruit sauce and for canning.
Meanwhile, ripe pineapple could be used for making squash and concentrated pulp. Blend the pineapple pieces in a mixer jar without adding water. Pass this through a pieces of soft muslin cloth. This fresh pineapple pulp could be stored air tight containers in the freezer.
