Kozhikode: The delicious dishes cooked in the jail kitchens would now reach your doorstep in just one click. The food cooked at the district jail's food production unit 'Freedom Food Factory,' would be supplied by the leading online food distribution company Swiggy. You could order dishes in two combo packs called the 'freedom combo food.'

Combo packs in chicken and beef would be available to be ordered online. The beef combo pack has 200 gm beef curry, 300 gms boiled tapioca, a 1 litre bottle of drinking water, 4 chapathis and a milk peda for dessert. Meanwhile, the chicken combo pack contains 200 gm chicken curry, 100 gms chicken dry fry, bottled drinking water, 5 chapathis, and a milk peda. Both the combo packs, which cost Rs 127 each, can be ordered online. The fresh and hot food would be neatly packed and supplied in paper bags.

In the initial stage, food would be supplied to those who stay within 6 kilometres radius of the jail. You could order food between 12 noon and 4 in the evening. The combo packs which are available only for online orders wouldn't be supplied through the counters in front of the jails.

The inauguration of the online food supply was done by north zone jail DIG Sam Thankayyan. District jail superintendent Romeo John, regional welfare officer KV Mukesh, deputy prison officer K Chithran and welfare officer Rajesh Kumar too had taken part in the event.
