Sago pudding
Ingredients

½ cup sago
1½ tablespoon skimmed milk powder
2 cups water
3 tbsp sugar
Preparation
Put the water to boil
Add washed sago to boiling water, stirring constantly
Dissolve the skimmed milk powder in a little water
Fat-free milk can also be used instead of milk powder
Boil till it thickens without lumps, add sugar and serve.
Poached eggs
Ingredients

1 egg
1 water
Preparation
Boil one cup of water in a flat vessel
Break the egg carefully into the boiling water without letting the yolk and the white get mixed
Cook till a white film forms over the yolk
Remove using a strainer and serve immediately.
Vegetable soup
Most vegetables are kidney friendly. Select vegetables with low sodium, potassium and phosphorus content

Ingredients
½ potato
½ carrot
1 tbsp moong dal (soaked in water overnight)
(The water should be changed)
A small piece of onion
½ tbsp butter
3 cups water
Preparation
Pressure cook potato, carrot, and moong dal
Slice onion into small pieces and fry in butter in a pan
Add the boiled vegetables to the pan and cook well
Do not add salt or fenugreek leaves.
Soyabean curry
Ingredients

½ cup soya beans
2 tbsp coconut milk
½ onion
Preparation
Pressure cook the pre-soaked soya bean
Fry the chopped onion in a pan, add the boiled soya beans and coconut milk and cook well
Can be served with chapati or dosa.
Vegetable manti
(for a different taste)

Ingredients
½ cup maida
1 tbsp potato
½ carrot
½ half (small) ripe tomato
1 tsp butter
Preparation
Knead the maida well adding water, similar to the constituency of chapati dough
Boil and mash potato and carrot
Fry the chopped tomato in butter with the mashed vegetables
Break maida dough into small balls and roll out thinly
Place the vegetable mix and fold, like samosas
Steam in a steamer.
Potato patties
Ingredients

1 potato
1 tbsp wheat rawa
1 tbsp butter
1 tbsp bread crumbs
Preparation
Boil and mash the potato
Sauté the mashed potato in butter
Make into patties, roll in rawa and bread crumbs and shallow fry on a tawa with butter.
Rice balls payasam
Ingredients

¼ cup roasted rice powder
2 tbsp skimmed milk powder
½ cup sugar
½ cup fat-free milk
½ cup water
Preparation
Knead the rice powder and skimmed milk powder with water
Make small balls and steam in idly maker
Add a little water to the milk and bring to a boil
When it boils, add the steamed rice balls and cook till a thick consistency is reached
Add sugar and serve.
Kadala–oats kanji
Ingredients
¼ cup black chickpeas
¼ cup oats
2 cups water
1 tsp butter
Preparation
Soak the chickpeas for eight hours
Remove from the water and cook well
Boil the water and cook the oats without forming lumps
Add the boiled chickpeas and bring to a boil
Add butter and serve.
Fruit punch
Ingredients

1 cup (2 oranges) juice
½ cup (two large tomatoes) juice
1 Banana
2 tbsp sugar
Preparation
Slice the banana into small pieces and mash
Add the orange and tomato juices
Add sugar and enough water.
