There is a scene in a popular Malayalam short film in which the actor asks the waiter of an American pizza chain restaurant for a masala dosa. The scene triggered a riotous laughter among the viewers. Well, cut to the present, what if we tell you that a fast food restaurant chain from the West will serve you South India's favorite masala dosa?
The West has always been obsessed with the orient and tried finding new ways to go desi. Latest in the line is McDonalds. The American hamburger and restaurant chain is all set to bring the new addition to their menu - masala dosa brioche!
According to sources, the dish will be part of a new breakfast menu called McBreakfast. The menu will also have egg burjis, waffles and hotcakes. The masala dosa brioche will look much like a burger, but with an aloo masala filling and a distinctive dosa flavor.
Although it is not the first time McD is going desi (remember McAloo tikki?), adopting and transforming a much common dish like masala dosa is nothing short of a food revolution.
The McBreakfast is said to be hitting the Indian outlets Friday, starting with the ones in Mumbai. The items with price ranging between Rs 30 and Rs 135 will be available for dine-in, take-away and delivery as well from Friday morning.
