Songs, in addition to flowers and food, are an integral part of Onam festivities. Every year, people in Kerala are introduced to new melodies with 'Chingakkutty' being the latest addition to the list. The song, which deals with the life of a woman from her birth to old age, has been directed by Maneesh Kurup. The song covers major events during Onam such as ‘athapookkalam’ (flower carpet), ‘oonjal’ (swing) and ‘sadya’ (traditional feast) through the eyes of the main character Chingakkutty, who has been confined to the interiors of her house.

The album begins with a girl’s birth and covers the crucial events that follow, including her wedding and the domestic abuse she faces at her husband’s house. Her trauma and how she tackles it are also picturised in beautiful frames, accompanied by striking music and lyrics. Apart from composing the song, Maneesh has also written the lyrics and directed the visuals. Jithin Kunjumon and Maneesh Madhusoodanan have crooned the song.
While film and serial actor Donna Anna has enacted the lead role of Chingakkutty, the other characters in the music video have been brought to life by Tony Sijimon, Unnikrishnan, Ganga Gopan, Kumari Thomas, Baby Ardra, Master Hassim, Hari Namboodiri, Latha K P and Santhosh. Dhanapal Preman is the cinematographer.
