Thiruvananthapuram: Five persons were arrested Thursday in Kerala-wide raids conducted by the anti-piracy cell after prints of recently released Mohanlal-starrer Pulimurugan were widely circulated on the Internet, police said.
The film's producer Tomichan Mulakupadam had lodged a complaint with police in connection with the piracy.
A police press release said Anti-Piracy Cell superintendent P.B. Rajevan had received some information with regard to persons responsible for downloading the film, following which arrests were made from Malappuram and Palakkad districts.
Fasil, Shafiq Tariq, Nousheer, Shafiq and Thajudeen were arrested, police said.
The statewide raids will continue in the coming days too, Anti-Piracy Cell sources said.
Pulimurugan, which is running to packed houses, recently got the distinction of being the first Malayalam film to enter the Rs 100 crore club.
