Madhura Raja rules box office on Day 1, collection report out

Mammootty's much hyped movie Madhura Raja hit the screens on Friday and its is off to a terrific start.
Directed by Vyshakh, the movie was released in about 250 screens in Kerala alone with about 85 percent occupancy in almost every releasing centres.
Early reports suggested that Madhura Raja had a grand opening.
The makers now have officially released the box office numbers. While in Kerala, the movie garnered Rs 4.2 crore of day 1, outside Kerala it fetched Rs 1.4 crore. The other regions have GCC with Rs 2.9 crore, the US with Rs 21 lakh, Europe with Rs 11 lakh and rest of the world Rs 30 lakh.
Overall, the gross collection for the opening day is at Rs 9.1 crore.
At the multiplexes in Kochi, 'Madhura Raja' had as many as 16 shows in its opening day, and the film apparently collected Rs 5.25 lakh. From multiplexes in Thiruvananthapuram, 'Madhura Raja' collected Rs 9 lakh at an attendance percentage of 84.
With weekend and holiday season, trade analysts suggests that the numbers will go up in the days ahead.
Along with Mammootty, Madhura Raja also features actors like Jai, Siddique, Kalabhavan Shajohn, Aju Varghese,Nedumudi Venu, Anusee, Mahima Nambiar, Shamna Kasim, Salim Kumar etc., in prominent roles.
Madhura Raja also brings back the technical team behind the blockbuster movie Pulimurugan. Vysakh-Uday Krishna-Peter Hein are back together and cinematographer Shaji Kumar too is a part of this big project.
Madhura Raja is a big budget venture made with a budget of around Rs 30 crore.
