Thiruvananthapuram: The online delegate registration for IFFK (International Film Festival of Kerala) began on Friday. As many as 7500 passes are on offer for delegates. This year’s IFFK will be held from December 7 to 13.
The registration was launched by chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan by handing over the delegate fees of Rs 2000 to minister A K Balan. The funds for organizing the festival are being collected through the delegate fees.
No free passes
Film personalities and media persons who were issued free passes for the IFFK editions till last year will have to be disappointed. The organizers have decided not to issue free passes this year as part of reducing costs. IFFK 2018 is being held by keeping expenses to the minimum and without government funding. A target of Rs 2 crore has been set as revenue from delegate fees. The remaining Rs 1.25 crore required to conduct the festival will be met from sponsorship and other means. Till last year, hundreds of free passes used to be distributed.
The online registration for all categories- general, cinema, TV and film society – is being conducted together this year. The registration fee for students is Rs 1000. As many as 2500 delegate passes were earlier offered from five centers at various parts of the state. Of them, 1500 have already been taken. The sale of passes at these five centers closes on Friday. Any remaining passes can be purchased directly from the Chalachitra Academy’s office.
