The Central Bureau of Investigation will reportedly record the statements of noted filmmaker Vinayan in connection with the case about actor Kalabhavan Mani’s untimely death. The agency has apparently summoned Vinayan to clarify about the controversial climax scenes in his recently released movie ‘Chaalakudykaran Changathy’.
Meanwhile, the filmmaker told Manoramaonline that he had anticipated it and confirmed that he would report to the investigative agency. “The CBI group investigating Mani’s death had called me up. In the climax of ‘Chaalakudykkaran Changathy’, the protagonist’s death is shown as due to murder. Whatever I have to say about the climax would be conveyed to the investigative team,” Vinayan said.
Though the filmmaker had earlier said that 'Chaalakudykkaran Changathy' was not based on Mani’s life, he has now made it clear that the movie, which is running into packed theatres, indeed is a biopic of the deceased actor. However, Vinayan clarified that he had earlier denied the movie was to be based on Mani’s life, as the investigation about his death was on.
“It was necessary to show Mani’s death. I couldn’t end the movie on a mysterious note. The climax is in fact the screen writer’s take on a supposed incident. But those scenes are creating ripples in the theatres. Those who saw the movie may have been talking about it. I have honestly narrated his tale in the film. It indeed is the artiste's flair to make the audience believe that the screenplay of a movie is honest and reflects reality,” Vinayan noted.
Vinayan also stated that he would be reporting to the investigating team only on Wednesday as he is busy promoting the film.
Noted mimicry artiste Rajamani essays the role of Mani in the movie. Instances from Mani’s life, from his humble beginning and rise to popularity before his death have been portrayed in the film. Many scenes and dialogues which depict the unpleasant experiences that Mani had faced in the cinema industry have already become a talking point.
