She is adorable, gifted and knows her job. Nithya Menen is not like her fellow actresses who don't give two hoots to the story of films they do. For them, role counts, not script. But Nithya signs a film only if she likes the story, that is a known fact about the level-headed actress. Sources say she does not feign humbleness, but talks straight.

Nithya, who began her film career as a child artiste, has so far acted in 47 films and is among the most sought-after actresses in the south. Known for her ability to fit effortlessly into any role, the ‘one-take’ star (that is how she is known in tinsel town), Nithya comes as a safe bet for producers.

However, she gave a piece of her mind to the reporter of a vernacular daily during an interview recently. When the reporter asked her take on talks about her increasing weight doing rounds in social media, Nithya said, “Even if I react or not, those who comment will keep doing that. I don’t care about my weight. When I have no issue with my own weight, why should other people even bother about that? Moreover, if I want to reduce weight, it won’t take even a month and I know that. Heroines of old films were plump. But did the producers stop making films with them? If they became so popular, that’s because of their acting prowess. If someone wants me to be size-zero for his film, please keep away from me,” she said.

She made a comeback to Telugu cinema after a two-year gap in a cameo role in Vijay Devarakonda-Rashmika Mandanna starrer Gita Govindam. She has one Malayalam film Prana and one biopic each in Tamil and Telugu – Iron Lady and NTR respectively - in her kitty.
