Kochi: Malayalam film actor Tini Tom denied reports that he made statements supporting Indian prime minister Narendra Modi. Tom came live on his Facebook page on Sunday clarifying his stand.
There were reports that the actor supported BJP through a fake Facebook account in the name 'Uliyannur Thachchan'. "The report that I supported a political party is completely baseless. I have never said such a thing and I am apolitical," he said and appealed that no one should misunderstand him.
The social media had earlier spread the news that Tom had made a statement, "India became real India after Narendra Modi became the prime minister. The opposition parties aren't ready to acknowledge the laudable achievement he had made due to blind aversion towards the BJP."
Tini Tom is a popular actor who has done several supportive characters in recent years. He embarked into showbiz long ago by proving his mettle in mimicry and skits. His role in Mammootty-starrer 'Pranchiyettan' and Biju Menon-starrer 'Vellimoonga' was noted for the realistic portrayal of characters.
He had also appeared in a lead role in Suresh Achoos directorial 'Pottas Bomb' in which state award-winning actor Indrans played the villain.
