Aparna Balamurali is now a busy bee in the industry. After the consecutive success of her two movies - B.tech with Asif Ali and Kamuki with his brother Ashkar Ali - Aparna is undoubtedly on cloud nine. The girl-next-door, often in news for her remarks on the Malayalam film industry, has a clear view of her profession. Onmanorama caught up with Aparna for Just One Question: “Whom do you think is the most creative person in the making of a movie?”

The young actor did not spare a second thought to say that it is either the director or the screenplay writer. “I can easily exemplify it with my movie 'Maheshinte Prathikaram.' You would frown if you listen to the raw script of that movie. The story-line in a single sentence would seem meaningless. It is expert direction and a perfect screenplay that molded that movie to what you see today. So, according to me, either the director or the person who writes the screenplay, or both, are the most creative and significant people behind a cinema,” she said.

When asked about the importance of the man who actually imagines the story and envisages its cinematic prospects, Aparna says the story-writer is one among the many who makes significant contribution to a movie. “Story-writer – yes, he is indeed an important person as far as a movie is concerned, but not as important or creative as the director or screenplay writer. A writer is more important to a book than to a movie. Like how a writer imagines his story and builds the narrative, it is the director and the screenplay writer who make a cinema from an idea," an insightful Aparna said.
