Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala on Wednesday reported four new cases of the Omicron variant of coronavirus.

With this, there are five active Omicron cases in the state, informed the health department.

Kerala had reported its first Omicron case earlier this month when a returnee from UK was confirmed with the infection in Kochi.

Two of the fresh Omicron cases are the mother and wife of the first patient, who were on his contact list. They were isolating.

A man who returned from Congo is the third case reported in Kochi on the day. 

Meanwhile, a 25-year-old woman who had arrived at the Thiruvananthapuram Airport from the United Kingdom is the other infected. She is undergoing treatment at the General Hospital.
