Students must score 30 pc marks in written exam to pass SSLC from 2025: Education Minister

Thiruvananthapuram: Education Minister V Sivankutty here on Wednesday announced that the SSLC exam pattern would be revised from 2025. He said that the department is planning to introduce the minimum paper system in SSLC like higher secondary. He made the announcement while addressing the media after declaring the SSLC examination results. 

“ At present, students have to score 30 per cent marks including 20 per cent for continuous evaluation and 10 percent for written exam to clear the SSLC. But from next year, students have to score 30 per cent marks in each written exam. Pass mark out of 40 would be 12 and 80 would be 24. Total marks would be calculated after adding the marks of continuous evaluation,” said the minister.

A final decision on revising the exam pattern would be taken after conducting an educational conclave. Experts, scholars, teachers and parents will be invited to the conclave. The minister added that the department aims to upgrade the academic standard of students to the national level by introducing a new exam pattern.
