Thiruvananthapuram: The second term examinations in the State schools will be held from December 12 to 22. The timetable for the same has been published.

The Government will prepare the question papers for Higher Secondary examinations this time and send them to schools as was the practice till last year. The direction that schools should prepare the question papers during the first term examinations had stirred controversy. It will also provide model questions for vocational subjects.

The examinations for the Upper Primary (UP) and High school sections are scheduled to begin on December 13 and that of the LP section on December 15. The examinations for all categories will conclude on December 21.

A decision in this regard was taken during a meeting of the Programme Assessment and Quality Improvement Committee chaired by S Shanavas, Director of General Education.

Earlier, the Public Education Department strictly banned the schools from using the question papers prepared by associations or institutions while asking them the prepare the question papers of their own during the first-term examinations. However, a majority of schools breached the direction and used the question papers prepared by the Principals’ Association.
