Kothamangalam: The prestigious M P Varghese Award 2023, established by the Mar Athanasius College Association and Organisation of Farmers for Establishment of

Rights (OFFER), was given to renowned chemist and Bharat Ratna C N R Rao for his lifetime contributions to advancing science education and research.

Secretary of the association Dr Winny Varghese presented the award to Prof Rao at an event held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR), Bengaluru, on Thursday.

Professor C N R Rao has served at prestigious institutions such as the Indian Institute of Science, the Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research, and the International Centre for Materials Science.

The award has been instituted in memory of Prof M P Varghese, the founder of the Mar Athanasius College Association.
