Bengaluru: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Sadguru Madhusudan Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research at Chikkaballapur in Karnataka on March 25. The Institute will provide free medical education to students willing to do rural service. Villagers would be given free treatment here as well.

Apart from MBBS, there will also be medical PG, nursing, and paramedical courses.

The medical college is located at the Sathya Sai Grama at Muddenahalli in Chikkaballapur. It is the first institution in the country to offer free medical education. It operates under the Prashanthi Balamandira Trust. The Sathya Sai Sarala Memorial teaching hospital with 350 beds is also part of the institute.

Authorities of Sathya Sai Grama said that the project would help underdeveloped villages get access to better treatment. They have been inspired by the PM's call for more private participation in the medical education sector. Chikkaballapur is 60 km north of Bengaluru.
