This government UP School in Kottayam gets fully air conditioned classrooms

Puthupally: A technological wonderland is what awaits the students of Kottayam Erikad Government UP School when the schools reopen after the pandemic induced break. All the seven classrooms in the school are air conditioned. Besides, the classrooms are equipped with IP cameras, interactive digital podium, digital board, internet connection, laptop and digital projector.
The IP cameras allow the teachers to interact with the students from his/her house even if they are on leave. An FM radio station would begin when the school reopens.
With 236 new admissions, this is the government school where most number of students has newly joined this year, in the district. Meanwhile, the total strength of the school is 384. The school officials have applied to the sub district education office for increasing the number of divisions. Two years ago, the school had won the title of a green school too.
The modernization of the school was done on a budget of Rs 34 lakh, with Rs 28 lakh granted from the National Urban Mission Project and Rs 6 lakh from the previous panchayat committee.
Achamma Thomas who is the acting principal, school managing committee chairman CP Rarichan and PTA President KK Satheesh said that the FM station and the renovation of the science lab would be completed when the school reopens.
