Ernakulam: Keralite students have secured both the first and second ranks in the Bachelor of Design entrance exam of the National Institute of Design (NID).

Pranav P of Aluva in Kerala's Ernakulam district secured 99.92 per cent in the exam to bag the first rank. He is the son of Praveen Venkitta Ramanan, an officer at the Synthite Industries at Kadayiruppu, and Deepa, a chartered accountant in Kochi.

The second rank was secured by S Amrithavarshini (99.85 per cent) of Nedumkunnam in Kottayam. She is the only daughter of V R Sathyadev, a freelance cartoonist and journalist in Bahrain, and Sunitha Devi, a teacher at Bahrain Indian School. Amrithavarshini was a science student at the Aravinda Vidya Mandiram at Pallikkathode in Kottayam.
