Coimbatore: The 17th edition of the Miss South India beauty contest came to a colourful end here. Jismi Thomas from Palakkad won the Miss Social Media title at the event held at the Le Meridien, Coimbatore.

Jismi, a 20-year old student pursuing Bsc Psychology at Christ College, Irinjalakuda, was appreciated on social media soon after the results were announced. She had vied with 24 other contestants from five states before emerging the winner after several rounds and grooming section.

On her inspiration, Jismi said, "It is not from a single person that I draw inspiration. I gain inspiration and knowledge from everyone. Even a child has something to make us understand about the things happening around us. My mother is also a significant motivationg force."

"Without my mother, cousins and friends I couldn't have reached here. I owe my success and this title to them," she added.

On her experience on the Miss South India platform, Jismi said,"The Miss South India platform has completely transformed me. It helped me to gain confidence and also understand my faults. It also helped to improvise my overall conduct."

Jismi recalled her initial days in beauty contests. "I was so nervous to get onto the stage but developed confidence gradually," Jismi remembered.

Jismi, who is an art buff and loves fashion and drama, was the best runner up at the 'Midukki' competition held in 2017. Ahead of the upcoming fashion pageants, Jismi is now tryong to improve her fashion quotient. "I am working hard to keep myself fit. I visit the gym regularly and is keeping a watch on my diet," the Psychology student said.

The beauty pageant was promoted by Manappuram Finance Limited and hosted by Pegasus in association with the Rotary International of Coimbatore.
