Indian badminton star P V Sindhu's tribute to her coach Pullela Gopichand has gone viral. Sindhu, who has won silver at the Olympics and World Championships, has credited Gopichand for her success.
Sindhu celebrated the tough love, selflessness, and sacrifice made by Gopichand in a short video. The video was published online by Gatorade India ahead of Teachers’ Day (September 5).
The digital film depicts the story of a young girl in search of a normal childhood. However, her life underwent a remarkable transformation after she met the former All England champion, who powered her to glory on badminton courts.
Titled, ‘I hate my teacher’, the video reveals how Sindhu spent her afternoons practicing her shots even with bruised knees as Gopichand exhorted her to believe in herself and keep trying. In the video, Sindhu says, “I hate my teacher. He is the reason for my scars. My teacher is not like your teacher. He shouts at me. I hate him because he never gives up. Because he believes in me…. more than I do in myself. Thank you, coach. Let’s hate our teachers for pushing us further and believing in us more than we believe in ourselves.”
