Australian basketball side Ringwood Hawks to tour Kerala next month

Australia's Big V Basketball League side Ringwood Hawks Melbourne will play a five-match series against a Kerala All Star women's basketball team next month.

The series, labeled International Hoopthalon Series 2017, is being organized by Team Rebound in association with the Kerala Basketball Association.

The opening match will be held at the Regional Sports Center in Kochi on November 5. Thrissur, Kottayam, Thiruvananthapuram, and Kozhikode will host the following games. The series ends on November 12.

Former Indian captain Geethu Anna Jose played for Ringwood Hawks from 2006 to 2008. Geethu was the first Indian to play as a professional for an Australian side.

The series is being organized to provide more exposure to the women hoopsters of Kerala.

Keralites Jeena Scaria, Grima Merlin and P.S. Anjana were instrumental in India winning the Level 2 competition of the FIBA Asian Championship in Bengaluru in July.

The schedule: Nov. 5: RSC, Kochi; Nov. 7: V.K.K. Menon Indoor Stadium, Thrissur; Nov. 9: Indoor Stadium, Kottayam; Nov. 11: Jimmy George Indoor Stadium, Thiruvananthapuram; Nov. 12: V.K.N. Menon Indoor stadium, Kozhikode.
