Kozhikode: Gokulam Kerala FC, who secured a direct entry into the I-League, unveiled the team for the new season at a glittering ceremony held here on Sunday.
The team will be led by former Kerala Blasters player Sushanth Mathew.
Apart from local players, the 25-member squad, coached by Bino George, comprises seven foreigners and eleven players from different states.
They will kick off their I-League campaign with an away match against Shillong Lajong FC on November 27. Their first home match will be against Chennai City FC at the Corporation Stadium in Kozhikode on December 4.
Gokulam’s arrival in the I-League means Kerala will have a presence in the country’s top division league after a gap of six years. Viva Kerala was the last club to participate in the I-League representing Kerala.
Season tickets for the Malappuram-based club’s home matches will be available at the Corporation Stadium and Gokulam Group’s offices in Kozhikode and Malappuram districts.
The team’s logo was released by Kozhikode mayor Thottathil Raveendran.
Gokulam Group chairman Gokulam Gopalan, state Sports Council president T P Dasan, club president V C Praveen and Kozhikode District Football Association secretary P Haridas were among those who attended the function.
