Kollam: The police have registered a case under non-bailable sections against Ananthakrishnan and his mother Sheena, who had filed a complaint against K B Ganesh Kumar MLA. Though it was Ananthakrishnan who had initially approached the police saying that the MLA and his driver had assaulted him following a dispute over right of way, the police have taken a soft stand towards Ganesh Kumar and recorded that it was he who had complained first. The MLA has also been booked, but under weak sections.

Ananthakrishnan and his mother have been charged with causing bodily hurt and other serious violations of the law.

The incident related to the case took place around 2 pm on Wednesday when Ananthakrishnan and his mother were heading to a house near Sabarigiri School, Agasthyakkode, where a death had occurred. Ganesh Kumar was returning from the same house.

On a narrow lane near the house, the MLA’s and Ananthakrishnan’s cars came head-on. There was no space for both cars to pass. If the MLA’s car had reversed a little distance, the way would have been cleared. However, Ganesh’s driver Santhan refused to do so. Following which, Ananthakrishnan reversed his car and took it into the compound of a nearby house to allow the MLA’s car to pass.

While Ganesh’s car was passing, Sheena remarked loudly whether all the trouble could not have been avoided if the MLA’s driver had reversed a very small distance. This provoked the MLA and he jumped out of the car and let out a stream of expletives at Sheena. He then pulled Ananthakrishnan out of the car and thrashed him, says the complaint filed with the police. Meanwhile, the MLA’s driver also joined the attack. When the local people gathered hearing the commotion, Ganesh and his driver fled from the spot.
