'I'll take you home,' Kevin's last words to Neenu

Kottayam: "Don't worry. I will come to take you home," Kevin Joseph assured his fiancee Neenu Chacko moments before he was abducted by her relatives and later killed.

Kevin and Neenu had talked over the phone till about 1.30 am as the former consoled the latter who was staying at a women’s hostel. The couple had even begun dreaming about their future together.

Neenu said she never imagined that danger was lurking around when they made their last phone call on Saturday midnight.

Kevin had told Neenu that he would speak to the civic ward member about registering their marriage and asked her to wake him up on Sunday morning.

The goondas had attacked the house at Mannanam where Kevin had stayed, immediately after the couple hung up the phone. By 2 a.m the gang forcefully abducted Kevin and his relative Anish in two separate cars.

As promised, Neenu called Kevin on his phone at 5.45 am on Sunday, still unaware of what had happened to him. When someone cut her call, Neenu thought Kevin himself may have done it amidst his sleep. She called him again at 6 am, but it went unanswered. She then phoned one of Kevin's relatives, but they did not inform her anything.

It was only later that Neenu came to know that Kevin had been abducted and she reached the Gandhinagar police station to lodge a complaint.
