Barely hours after getting a pat from National Film Awards jury for her performance in Take Off, Malayalam actress Parvathy posted a photo of herself on Twitter.
No, it was not a 'Thank You' note to the jury, instead a shoutout seeking justice for the 8-year-old Kathua girl, who was brutally raped and murdered.
Like scores of celebrities, who have demanded the government to act swiftly against the perpetrators, Parvathy posted a photo of herself holding a poster that read:
"I am Hindustan. I am Ashamed. #JusticeForOurChild 8 years old. Gangraped. Murdered. In 'Devi'-sthaan temple. #Kathua."
In the tweet along with the photo, Parvathy also said 'and lest we forget #unnao Shame on us! #BreakTheSilence #EndTheComplicity #ActNow'.
Earlier, personalities including Tennis star Sania Mirza, Bollywood actors Akshay Kumar, Farhan Akhtar and Abhishek Bachchan took to social media to condemn the two brutal incidents that have shocked the nation.
Celebrities such as Sonam Kapoor, Arjun Kapoor, Ranvir Shorey and Richa Chadha criticised the politicisation of the crimes in the name of religion.
In Kathua, the eight-year-old was gangraped by six men who had held her in captivity in a small temple village for a week in January. She was drugged so that she could be sexually assaulted again before being bludgeoned to death.
In Unnao, a teen rape survivor claimed BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar had raped her and her father had died in police custody.
