Kottayam: Jose K Mani's wife Nisha's allegation that a politician's son had misbehaved with her on a train drew angry responses from former party man P C George. The Poonjar legislator said that Jose K Mani and his father K M Mani were trying to malign himself and his son.
Nisha, in her just-published memoir 'The Other Side of This Life', claimed that she was harassed by the son of a political leader during an overnight train journey. She did not name the harasser but dropped enough hints.
George told Manorama that the insinuations were a deliberate attempt to thwart the political career of his son Shone George. He said that he was working with K M Mani at the time of the alleged incident. Jose K Mani was the president of the Youth Front and Shone George its general secretary eight years ago.
“What kind of a man is Jose K Mani to entertain as general secretary a man who allegedly harassed his wife?” George asked.
“What kind of a father is K M Mani? If the incident were true, why did he remain silent then? Was Jose K Mani silent even after knowing that someone misbehaved with his wife? You can't corner George and son with such shameless accusations,” he said.
George said that the allegation came in the wake of reports that Shone George was getting ready to contest the elections from Pala, Mani's forte. He said that Nisha was merely supporting the game devised by Mani and son.
