Kannur: In a complete about-turn, CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan has come out with a statement supporting RMP leader T P Chandrasekharan. "Chandrasekharan was not against the CPM and he did not want to see the party destroyed. Also, Chandrasekharan had no plans to take RMP to the Congress camp," said Kodiyeri.
"But now, RMP has become a party of K K Rema only," he added.
Chandrasekharan was killed on May 4, 2012. A CPM activist, he later left the party to form the Revolutionary Marxist Party (RMP).
The state government had last month informed the high court that it was not in favour of a CBI probe into the conspiracy behind the murder of Chandrasekharan. Investigations had been conducted into two similar complaints. But the CBI had refused to take up the cases citing several reasons, it said.
Rema's response
RMP leader Rema, who is also Chandrasekharan's wife, has contested the claim of Kodiyeri regarding Chandrasekharan's willingness to return to the CPM. "If that was the case, why did CPM eliminate TP," she asked.
"RMP is Chandrasekharan's party, not Rema's," she said. "Kodiyeri is uttering blatant lies. Such statements reflect the fear of the CPM regarding the loss of its cadres," said Rema.
