Dubai: A day after the cheque case filed by a UAE-based businessman against CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrihnan's elder son Binoy Kodiyeri was reportedly settled out of court, his younger son Bineesh Kodiyeri, who is also facing charges of fraud in the UAE, reached Dubai on Friday.
He shared the news of his arrival in the emirate through a live Facebook video in which he was seen standing in front of the world's tallest skyscraper, Burj Khalifa. Bineesh, who claimed that he was posting the live video upon requests from comrades and his friends, however, did not speak anything about the pending case against him.
On December 10, a Dubai court had convicted Bineesh in absentia to two months' imprisonment for defaulting on a loan he had taken from Saudi Arabia-based Samba Financiers' Dubai branch. He was punished on a case registered by the Bur Dubai police on August 6, 2015. As per reports, he was facing arrest if he landed in that country after being declared a wanted man.
However, as per the existing laws in the UAE, offenders can avoid jail by returning the amount to the petitioner even after conviction and sentence in cheating cases. Such out of court settlements can be done without being present in the country.
