Kannur: Shocking details of the gruesome murder of Youth Congress leader Shuhaib have emerged with an eyewitness claiming that the assailant gang chopped him into pieces.
“The gang of assailants arrived in an unregistered car as Shuhaib and friends were having tea at a wayside eatery Monday. They threw bombs and hacked Shuhaib with a sword. As he fell down on the floor, two of them chopped him multiple times," Shuhaib's friend E Naushad, who was with him during the attack, recounted.
“One of them, sat down and kept hacking him, while the other one was standing and attacking. As Shuhaib tried to block the attack with his hand, his arm was chopped. The attack was obviously aimed at killing Shuhaib," the witness said. As local people rushed to the scene, the gang threw bombs at them and fled towards Mattannur, he added.
Naushad, who also sustained injuries in the attack at Edayannur, is undergoing treatment at a hospital.
Shuhaib, who was also the Mattanoor party block secretary, was hacked to death allegedly by CPM workers at Mattanur in the district on Monday night. Four assailants came in a car and hurled crude bombs, and attacked the victim and two other party members with machetes.
The Congress has alleged that the CPM has 'unleashed red terror' in the state.
