Jail inmate caught serving special fish curry to Pulsar Suni Jail guards caught the prisoner, who was in charge of the kitchen, as he was trying to pass on the curry to Suni through the cell bars.

Kochi: It's backdoor special for Sunil Kumar, aka Pulsar Suni, in the jail. A co-inmate at the district jail in Viyyur, Thrissur, where the main accused in the actress assault case is lodged, has been caught red-handed while serving him special fish curry prepared at the prison kitchen for officers.

Jail guards caught the prisoner, who was in charge of the kitchen, as he was trying to pass on the curry to Suni through the cell bars. He has since been removed from the kitchen responsibility.

The development comes as allegations have been flying thick and fast that Suni gets special facilities in the jail. His friend is an accused in a hashish smuggling case. It is understood that his lawyer is a friend of Suni's lawyer.

Both lawyers had visited the jail a month ago and held discussions with the two accused. Officers in the jail arranged the meetings at the office room, rather than the routine place. One of the officers said Suni gained access to special facilities since then.

Food is prepared for officers and inmates at the same kitchen, but the method of cooking varies. The prisoners are given boiled fish and gravy separately. The officer said this is done to ensure that the number of pieces are correct and that they do not invite complaints of having broken up.

Such serving makes the fish curry less tasty. Whatever is prepared for the officers have better taste. It is this 'special food' that the inmate had been passing on to Suni.

Suni had managed to get a cell close to the kitchen with the help of some officers. There are regular disputes between jail officials about facilities being provided to inmates in this jail.
